The next Instagram?
Tech-Twitter was all about the new version of Dispo this weekend, David Dobrik's camera app that elicits nostalgic feelings associated with using a disposable camera.
The app launched on Product Hunt last year, originally called Disposable, with the latest version being released this weekend in beta and requiring an invite to access on Testflight.
So what is it? Dispo is a camera app for iPhone with a pretty bold design that's meant to mimic the delayed gratification of getting photos developed, while not actually needing to get anything printed out.
After taking your snaps, you have to wait for the rolls to develop before you can see them in the app. For anyone that remembers the thrill of getting your vacation photos developed IRL, you'll get the anticipation that builds here. Unlike getting your negatives back from the drugstore, however, on Dispo, the photos look great even if you’ve taken a crappy shot - meaning you don't need to be a photography student to share a cool-looking snap.
The biggest new addition to the latest drop is shared rolls. Think of it like a collaborative photo album that develops new pics every morning at 9 am. Nobody, even the photographer, can see the photos until then. This social element is interesting and draws comparisons to IG and other image-based social networks.
Could Dispo become the next Instagram? The jury's out for now but we're excited to test it out and join some of your rolls.

Product Hunt's new GM
Today we are welcoming the latest member of the Product Hunt team: Ashley Higgins. Ashley is joining to lead the product vision and company-wide execution as we bring Product Hunt into its next chapter. 💯
Ashley is a talented product leader who has spent a decade building consumer products at scale at companies like Reddit, Clearbit, and SEGA. She was the first mobile PM at Reddit, responsible for shipping their iOS and Android apps (on Product Hunt!). She then went on to found their search & discovery team to help users navigate the vast swathes of Reddit. We know her skills in growing community-led products will be instrumental in evolving Product Hunt over the coming years.
Ashley has been quietly working with the team for the last few months on some exciting new initiatives (more to share soon!). This is going to be a big year for the Product Hunt community. We have a lot of work to do, and that means we are set to double our team this year. Please take a look at our current open roles and apply if you're interested in being part of our growing team.
Please join us in welcoming Ashley to the team! 🚀🌕😸

Become a 'Meme-Dealer'
On Sunday night, Elon Musk confessed on Clubhouse the secret to being a meme-king on Twitter was to use 'meme-dealers.'
No sooner was this uttered, than young maker Bereket got to work preparing for a Product Hunt launch to help everyone become an Elon Musk style meme-dealer.
Of course, there are many tools to help you source or make your own memes. Here's a short selection that have launched on Product Hunt over the years:
Kapwing: Collaborative platform for creating GIFs and memes
Me-me: Search dank and funny memes
Frinkiac: Make memes from your favorite Simpsons episode
Meta-meme: A marketplace to buy, sell and collect rare memes
Meme Factory: A decentralized meme marketplace and registry
Mehmz: Make memes with your friends
Now you too can become a 'dealer of memes'.

The end of bad team meetings
Today's newsletter was crafted by us and sponsored by our friends at Duuoo Teams.
Earlier this week, the team at Duuoo dropped their latest tool to help facilitate better team communications, Duuoo Teams.
“We’ve taken everything we've learned about helping teams have great 1-on-1 conversations and put it into a team context.
Science shows that team collaboration and team support are crucial levers to raise the sense of belonging, motivation, and psychological well-being.
(Duuoo Teams) offers an effective way to engage with your team, hold 1-on-1 and team dialogues, track progress and build a culture of open communication and transparency.” - Founder Duuoo, Magnus Stawicki Blak
With Duuoo Teams you can:
🗣 Have more effective 1-on-1 and team dialogues of all kinds
💯 Work in an iterative and agile way
🙌 Set and track individual and team OKRs
🙋♀️ Give and request feedback
Here’s what some early adopters had to say:
“We have used Duuoo for a year or so now and absolutely love it! It gives my manager and me a chance to chat about things that might otherwise not pop up.” - Rebecca
“It really is a game-changer for running effective 1 on 1s. Can't wait to try out their OKR system!” - Matthew
“Guiding such conversations using talking points provided by different experts seems like a really good approach” - Nadia

How to get out of video calls 😈
We've all been in a meeting that could have been an email. But what about those Zoom calls, or classes, that make you wish the ground would open up and swallow you whole? Luckily, Kevin has built a tool to save you from another unnecessary meeting.
Freezing Cam lets you freeze your webcam during video calls on purpose. You can also fake a stuttering webcam or even play a video instead of your webcam.
The community is already finding some pretty unique use-cases for it:
"Love it! Finally, I m going to eat my favorite ice cream in virtual class without my teacher noticing ahah" - Marion
"LOL, students are going to love this."- Ryan
"Finally I can pick my nose mid zoom." - Jason
Freezcam gives us some Bufferi-ng vibes, where you can pretend to lose connection on your Zoom call. A couple of older products that can come in handy to get you out of tricky meetings; cop-out will help you skip the meeting altogether with a handy excuse, or callback will preschedule a fake call so you can pretend to be pulled away by an important client or issue. 😈
For some more practical products to help eliminate pointless meetings with asynchronous options, we covered a few new products last month or check-out our list from last year.
