9AM Press Embargo, do not send
We've got the inside scoop. 🕵️‍♂️

Intercom just launched their Messenger App Store, so you can bring dozens of apps inside Intercom's beloved chat widget:

🗓️ Upsell users natively with Stripe
💌 Grow your email lists with MailChimp's integration
🛍️ Send order updates through Shopify

Intercom just raised $125M to power 6 billion conversations every year.

Best part: with the new Product Hunt integration, you can drive traffic to your launches with every new conversation. 😻🚀

Everybody is lining up to build the messenger platform of the future: dozens of bot building platforms have launched for Facebook Messenger, and Slack just raised another $250M. They're even investing in startups that build Slackbots. 🤖

Is Intercom the next big apps platform? Add your thoughts here.
GitHub launched a bot 🤖
GitHub isn't just for open-source projects: it's how most engineering teams collaborate on code and products.

Instead of guessing your way through git for hours, enroll in the recently-launched Github Learning Lab. The friendly bot will teach you about:

📝 Markdown, the internet's favorite formatting tool
🖥️ Github Pages to build free websites in minutes
😬 Merge conflicts, or when you and your coworkers disagree

This isn't the only bot-based education tool to launch recently: a SMS-based university launched last week, with entrepreneurship lessons from UCLA, USC, and Babson professors.

You can also learn a language over text with the Golden-Kitty-winning Duolingo Bots, powered by AI. 🤖
Is this the new Facebook? 🤖🤔
In 2004, Mark Zuckerberg dropped out of Harvard to build Facebook:

"
You know, someone needs to build a service like this for the world."

Facebook succeeded in connecting the world, but keeping up with all of your friends and professional coffee buddies is overwhelming.

In 2017, another Harvard student dropped out to solve this problem, and his team's AI-powered Personal CRM launches today.

Conduit is like a personal Chief of Staff:
📊 Powerful AI tracks every meeting, email, and connection
💌 Integrates with Google, LinkedIn, Outlook, and your calendar
☕ Automatically reminds you to catch up with old friends based on how long it's been since you've emailed or grabbed coffee

Product Hunt users get VIP access with code PRODUCTHUNT. 🤗

Conduit isn't the only startup tackling this problem: Airtable's CRM template is loved by thousands (and they raised $52M!), Affinity got 800+ upvotes for their CRM, and UpHabit is coming soon.
NEW from Google: A coding app for beginners 📱
Today Google’s experimental incubator, Area 120, launched Grasshopper to help beginners learn to code on the go.

Here's why: “Coding is becoming such an essential skill, and we want to make it possible for everyone to learn even when life gets busy."

Lessons cover all the basics in JavaScript:
🛠️ Basics like variables, functions, and loops
📝 Drawing shapes using the D3 library
💻 Building more complex functions using D3

Completely free, and available for iOS and Android so you can learn while your Uber takes another loop around the block.

Grasshopper isn't the first app to teach coding on your phone.

Beautifully-designed Mimo launched years ago, with mobile-first lessons on how to build websites and apps. Originally started as a university project, it's grossed over $100,000 in revenue since launch.

If you'd rather sit at a desk, we've curated the 56 Best Tools to Learn to Code on your actual computer. 💻
Google Docs for Data 📊
The best Spotify playlists, generated automatically based on your listening history. 2-day Amazon Prime shipping for every product ever. Autonomous drones that follow your every move.

All of the most impressive products are powered by data. Spotify has 100+ data analysts dedicated to finding your next favorite tune.

Unfortunately, collaborating on data sets is difficult. Every analysis requires multiple languages, and nothing ties them together.

Yesterday, Mode Analytics launched Mode Studio, a complete data toolkit with R, Python, SQL, and built-in charts all in the same place for free, forever. It's like Google Docs, but for working with data.

Mode is adored by teams at Lyft, Intercom, and 500+ more.

Their core platform is now free for everyone:

📊 Interactive, custom data visualizations for all of your reports
🔗 Quick links to share visualizations, charts, or analyses
💌 Programmable updates: don't waste time updating dashboards
☁️ Connects to every database: AWS, Heroku, and 10+ more

Stop rewriting code. Now you can use Mode 🤗

eCommerce is fighting in Supreme Court 🏛
Today, the Supreme Court might force you to pay sales tax on much more of your online shopping.

Arguments will be heard in South Dakota vs. Wayfair, which focuses on a South Dakota law that makes it legal for states to impose sales tax on ecommerce purchases if the company makes over 200 transactions or over $100,000 in sales in that state every year.

In other words, you might have to start paying sales tax on your favorite $5 toothbrushes, Brandless
™️ products, and everything #GlossierPink.

We won't know the outcome of the case for months, but we can at least make shipping your stuff easier in the meantime:

📚 Lumi's Shipping Things teaches you everything about packaging, selling and shipping products online. They raised a $9M Series A to sell custom-branded packaging for all of your orders.

💰 Stripe's partnership with Shippo lets you print shipping labels directly from their dashboard for all of your orders.

🏷 Sticker Mule now sells branded packing tape. Cover everything in your logo or favorite emoji.

Or... you can just give Amazon a key to your house. Jeff Bezos will personally handle the rest.
General Assembly acquired for $415M 💰
Late last night, General Assembly announced their acquisition by the largest temp staffing firm in the world for $413 million.

The Adecco Group trains and places skilled temps at companies around the world. They have over 33,000 full-time employees. 👀

General Assembly teaches founders and operators the technical skills they need to compete in today's workforce, like web-development, data science, and digital marketing.

"Last fall we began mapping out on a white board with Adecco how we could work together, so we've been having off and on conversations with them," says General Assembly co-founder and CEO Jake Schwartz. "We'll be run as an independent entity."

This acquisition won't change much publicly for GA, but expect to see a new wave of GA-trained staffers around the world. 👩‍💻👨‍💻

GA has spent years supporting startups and founders everywhere with their Opportunity Fund to help underrepresented groups get into tech. Members get hands-on education, mentorship, and career opportunities.

They also open-sourced their website design course, so you too can build the most best websites from scratch.

Fun fact: the course was designed by an early Product Hunter. 😻

RIP cars
A wave of shared bicycles and scooters has overtaken urban cities. Some people aren't so enthused (see crime scene above).

On the heels of Uber's $200M acquisition of JUMP Bikes, it seems like every startup is trying to reinvent last-mile transportation. 6 startups launched in San Francisco alone.

We're still waiting to try this flying car, so in the meantime we spent two weeks testing every shared bike and scooter in the Bay. Here is our favorite.

If you don't live in San Francisco, take a peek into the future of transportation. Hoverboards are coming soon. 👀
Tech's favorite stock images just raised $7.5M 📸💰

In recent months, Apple announced their Everyone Can Create campaign to encourage artistic expression, Dropbox introduced a new brand to inspire creatives, and Samsung pushed customers to “Make Something” with their Galaxy devices..

Everryyyybody is focused on creativity and #content.

Finding the right photo for your landing page, app, or article is essential. The right picture is worth more than a thousand words.

But stock photography is hilariously bad... and covered in legalese. 😂

Fortunately, we have watermark-free Unsplash. A long-time favorite in the Product Hunt community, upvoted by more than 4,000, the free photo-finding platform is doing great work and recently backed with $7.5M:

🖼️ 500,000+ exclusive, high-resolution photographs…
📸 … from a community of 79,000+ contributors.
🤑 Free forever, for any use, personal or business.
💻 A public, free API to integrate directly into your app.

They’ve already teamed up with InVision, Trello, Medium, Google, and more to bring stunning content everywhere. We use Unsplash’s API to deliver photos directly in thousands of Ship pages.

Photographers win too: a photo featured on Unsplash is seen more than the front page of The New York Times.

Most recently, Unsplash just launched their iOS app to bring you freely usable photography anywhere. 📱

Today’s Daily Digest was crafted by Product Hunt (we are Unsplash users!) and sponsored by our friends at Unsplash. Psst! They're hiring. 😊
