Hey everyone 👋 I’m Jakob, co-founder of Butter, which we've built to help people run super-engaging, interactive sessions from start to finish. We’re about to launch Scenes, an exciting new tool for interactive presentations and collaboration which people can use alongside Zoom/MS Teams/Google Meet—perfect for anyone who cares about keeping participants focused and engaged! We’ve launched on Product Hunt 3x before, and we've hit #1 Product of the Day and became a finalist for the Golden Kitty Awards — so I'm super grateful and excited to do an AMA and share our learnings here! Ask me anything about building a fully-remote startup, product- and community-led growth, keeping clarity, conviction and focus as a founder, and the future of collaboration!

Hey Jakob, cool to have you here! I'm curious, what was the biggest challenge you faced when starting Butter? Was it technical, financial, or maybe finding the right team? I ask because I'm thinking of launching my own startup and would love to learn from your experience.

hey Jakob, I'm struggling to come up with a good and funny launch video, what's your approach on making the the video for your PH launch?

Hi Jakob! As a founder of a fully remote startup, what strategies have you found most effective for maintaining team alignment, fostering a strong company culture, and ensuring productivity across different time zones? Any key lessons or tools you'd recommend?

Hey Jakob, that's awesome! I'm curious, what was the biggest challenge you faced when starting Butter? Was it more about developing the tech or building a user base? Also, any fun startup stories you can share with us? Looking forward to hearing your journey!

hey jakob! great to see butter's evolvement. how do you decide on the key features to prioritize when building a new tool like “scenes”? is it driven more by user feedback, team insights, market trends, or something else?

How do you hire a product manager
Sri Gokul Krishnan.
I’m Sri Gokul Krishnan, a Senior UI/UX Designer with 6.5 years of experience, including freelancing and founding my own startup. Recently, I’ve faced some significant challenges in my career journey. Last year, my previous company downsized, and I was one of the employees affected. Following this, I took a 7-month break to care for my sister, who was diagnosed with cancer. Over the past 4 months, I’ve attended 15 interviews but haven’t received a positive outcome—most feedback suggests my profile is “on hold.” While I’m proud of my freelancing and leadership experience as a founder, I wonder if these aspects, coupled with my recent break, are being seen as barriers to landing a new role. I’d love to hear from this incredible community: How can I position my background and experiences more effectively to highlight my skills and resilience? Has anyone faced similar career transitions, and how did you navigate them? Any advice on refining my portfolio (www.srigokulkrishnan.com) or interview approach to make a stronger impact? Looking forward to your thoughts. 😊

Definitely some big pros and cons! On the pro side, being fully remote saves money on office space, allows hiring talent from anywhere, and can boost productivity by eliminating commutes. Biggest cons are probably maintaining company culture, collaborating across time zones, and fostering team bonding. Curious what tools you use to keep everyone connected and aligned?

Hi Jakob! Congrats on the success with Butter! I love the focus on engagement in virtual meetings. Quick question: Have you thought about integrating photo booth features like those we see in Kennewick events by photo booth in kennewick ? It could be a fun addition for team-building activities in remote settings. Keep up the great work!
