Carto Art - Create gallery-worthy map posters

Pick any place on Earth, frame it precisely, apply curated artistic styles, and export a print-ready, high-resolution map, all directly in your browser. Carto Art was inspired by seeing simple map prints sold on the street and realizing how much creative control was missing. The result is a free, open, professional-grade cartographic design tool for designers, map lovers, and anyone who wants meaningful wall art.

Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I’m the maker of Carto Art. This project started after seeing a street vendor selling basic map prints and thinking: *what if people could design something far more personal, precise, and beautiful; without expensive software or accounts?* One feature I’m especially proud of is the terrain hillshading; it uses real elevation data and GPU acceleration so mountains and valleys feel sculpted, not flat. The shading even adapts to your color palette so it feels like part of the design, not just a layer on top. I’d love feedback on: * New styles you’d want * Export formats * Use cases (gifts, interiors, travel memories, etc.) Thanks for checking it out; and happy mapping! 🗺️

Does it support 3D maps? For example, can I export an .obj file with all the buildings and mountains protruding?
