New Social App “Chairlift” Helps Solo Skiers and Snowboarders Connect, Ride, and Après Together SOMEWHERE IN THE AUSTRIAN ALPS – July 2025 — A new app built by riders, for riders, aims to solve a simple but common problem: showing up to the mountain solo, and wishing you had someone to shred with. Chairlift, a free mobile app for iOS and Android, lets skiers and snowboarders connect at resorts before they hit the slopes..or the après bar. Launched by Will Graham, a former Volcom digital marketing executive with years of experience across the U.S. and Europe, Chairlift is designed to build community and connection through shared mountain days. "The idea came from my own solo trips to ski resorts in Austria," says Graham. "I would often decide not to ride solo rather than take a chance riding by myself, it's safer and just more fun riding with a crew" 🏂 How Chairlift Works Join a resort - See who else is riding at your destination or nearby. Create or join a “Chairlift” These are small ride groups where you can filter by ski/snowboard preference, age, gender and skill level (beginner, intermediate, advanced). Choose Open or Closed Chairlifts - Open lets anyone matching your filters join. Closed lets you approve join requests. Chairlift Chat - Once you join a Chairlift, you can communicate with the other chairlift members before meeting, coordinate start time, meeting location and share photos of the day. User Profiles - Know a little about who you're meeting (see biography, level, photos, social media links). Après Feature (Beta) - Chairlift now includes a new "Après" section: Create or Join an Aprés to meet up for a drink after riding - with several people or just one..if you know what I mean. “Sometimes people don’t want a full day commitment — just a beer at the bar or someone to share stoke with after,” adds Graham. “We built Après to support that spontaneous side of the mountain community.” Focused on Safety and Simplicity Chairlift emphasizes safety, inclusivity, and fun, encouraging users to match based on preferences but also to ride within their comfort zones. It’s not a dating app or booking platform — just a simple, no-cost way to find your mountain crew. The app is completely free, without ads or in-app purchases for now. It’s built as a passion project by a small international team of riders who believe skiing and snowboarding should be more social, more safe in numbers, and more fun.
