Why static QR codes are a "ticking time bomb" for your print budget (and how we’re fixing it)
Hey Product Hunt community! 👋
We’ve all seen it: a beautiful billboard or 5,000 printed brochures with a QR code that leads to a 404 error or an outdated link. Once a static QR is printed, it’s permanent.
I’m working on IdeaSprout QR, a platform focused on Dynamic QR Codes. My goal is to turn QR codes from a "one-time tool" into a living business asset.
Some insights I’ve gathered while building this:
The "Edit-After-Print" Factor: Most users don't realize they can save thousands in reprinting costs by using dynamic links that can be updated instantly in the backend.
Data as a Strategy: Tracking where and when scans happen allows makers to see which physical marketing spots actually convert.
The Trust Gap: Generic QR codes look like spam. We found that adding brand logos and custom colors significantly increases scan rates.
What’s next for us? We’re currently building A/B Testing for QR codes (splitting traffic to different URLs) and Custom Domain integration so scanners see your brand in the preview, not ours.
I’d love your feedback:
For those running physical marketing, what’s your biggest pain point with QR codes?
Does seeing a custom domain in a QR preview make you more likely to scan it?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences! 🚀
