What would make you open a local news app every day?
I’ve been building Elara around a simple question:
Why does local news still feel like a list of headlines instead of a picture of what’s actually happening around you?
A traffic jam, a new café, a protest, a civic issue, a local event, they all have one thing in common:
They happen somewhere.
So instead of building another scrolling news feed, I’m experimenting with a map where you can explore what’s happening around you.
But I’m still figuring out the most important part:
What would actually make you come back to something like this every day?
What’s happening within 5 km of me?
Show me everything interesting happening across my city
Tell me only the things I personally care about
Let me explore the city visually on a map
Or is it something completely different?
I’d genuinely love to hear how you currently find out what’s happening around you: Reddit, Instagram, Google, WhatsApp groups, local news, or something else.
