Hi Product Hunt! I'm Dana, solo founder of EmberCine. I built EmberCine because AI film had nowhere to live. Tools like Runway or Kling hand you an MP4 and stop. YouTube's 2025 "inauthentic content" policy limits monetization of AI content at scale. Netflix stays human-first. OpenAI's Sora feed shut down this spring. So creators who make good AI films have no audience and no income from them, and viewers have no curated place to watch. EmberCine is that place: - Studio: chat with a Director AI, and it walks you from a logline to characters, locations, shots, a timeline, a finished film and a trailer. Multi-model under the hood (Veo, Kling, Seedance). - Review: every film is checked before it goes live. No slop, no feed. - Cinema + TrailTok: a subscription catalogue of full films, plus a vertical trailer feed anyone can browse. - Earnings: creators share 55% of net subscription revenue by watch-time, plus tips. Withdraw or reinvest into the next film. Where we are: the platform is live and working end to end, but we're pre-launch. What criteria are used for the check before a film is approved for the public catalogue?

Every film gets watched by a person (right now that's me) before it goes into the catalogue. I'm looking at a few things:

Story ā€” is there an actual plot that holds your attention for the whole film, or is it a loop of pretty shots? We'll always favour films with a strong, interesting story.

Quality ā€” we promise viewers watchable films, so if voices don't match the characters, lip sync is off, or the visuals glitch, it doesn't go through.

Content ā€” no glorification of violence, nothing that wouldn't pass normal content rules, and it has to be the creator's own story, not a copy of an existing film.

If a film doesn't pass, I send a short note on what to fix and it can be resubmitted. The goal is to help people get through, not to gatekeep. I'll publish the full checklist once it settles a bit.

Ā  Hi Dana. What does the "Director AI" actually do end-to-end ā€” does it generate the video itself, or orchestrate other tools (image/video gen models, voice, editing) and you're the interface layer?

First of all, the AI Director helps users create a structured story scenario that they can approve or reject. It also helps identify the characters and locations that will be used in the story, and once the user agrees, the images are generated. Besides that, it helps refine the user's prompts to make them more professional, which leads to better generation results.
