FinderGit 0.54.0 — Agents cleans up after your coding agents

Hi,

FinderGit 0.54.0 is about the Agents dashboard. It already reads what your coding agents load before they start; now it also finds what they leave behind on disk, helps with a skill listing that has grown past its room, and reads Claude Code's settings, and your organization's policy, the way Claude Code itself does.

What the agents leave behind

Coding agents, and the tools they run, leave folders on your disk that nothing uses any more. Codex unpacks a runtime and an install stops halfway; it keeps every release of its background server; a marketplace update gets interrupted; the ChatGPT app copies files to a temporary folder and leaves them; a background session of Claude Code ends with an Xcode build cache inside it; a Chrome killed rather than quit leaves a clone of itself behind.

The new Storage card on Agents adds up what can go. Each kind is a group that says what it is, what proves it unused, and whether it comes back, and each row says what moving it frees.

Nothing in use is offered. FinderGit asks macOS which files running programs hold, the file each one runs from, its working folder and the files it has open, and marks those rows In use, with the program's name. Each folder is looked at again just before it moves, and it goes to the Trash, where the Finder can put it back.

The Agents dashboard: the summary of warnings and the heaviest start, then a card for each kind of file. Storage joins them when there is something to free.

Choices for a crowded skill listing

Claude Code gives the list of skills it reads at every start a budget of its own, and past it the ones used least lose their description. A listing past its budget now offers Listing Choices…: turn off the skills synced from , or a plugin, or list some skills by name only. Each choice writes one setting into that place's own local settings, a file git doesn't track, and is shown in full before anything is written.

Read the way Claude Code reads it

  • A settings file Claude Code drops whole without saying so (a comment, a trailing comma, the wrong encoding) now gets a warning that says why.

  • Your organization's policy is read the way Claude Code reads it, from a managed profile too. A policy file that would stop Claude Code from starting is flagged under a badge of its own, Organization, and hooks and servers that your settings or the policy switch off are no longer flagged as broken.

  • Launch Weight counts what Claude Code's own startup warning counts: imports, and the rules of the folders above. An import from outside a project counts only where you allowed external imports when Claude Code asked.

Also in this release

  • Every card and row on Agents opens from the keyboard and with VoiceOver.

  • A fix never writes outside the repository on disk.

FinderGit is free, a universal binary (Apple Silicon + Intel), runs on macOS 15+, and is signed and notarized.
