Black Friday is hurtful for environment and for people. Nature suffers from excess pollution caused by overspending and -production, people die during mass hysteria. Fuck Black Friday is a list of companies that give part of their proceeds to charity this day.

@petecodes for tech companies this could actually be a real way to lower the impact on the environment from their server usage. If prices are higher, less units are bought, and server load is lower -> therefore, lower emissions, lower impact. However it makes it tougher for people with less money to get in on the products.

This is a nice idea, but i think instead of limiting to just black friday you can extend to other sale days. Also try to create an identity which is not very specific to a particular day.

@1hakr Yup! Probably will need to either rebrand or make a more general product to turn Fuck Black Friday into an adjacent one . Will let you know when I come up with something then ⚽

This year I decided to Fuck Black Friday after I found an infographic on the web showing sales volume increasing exponentially on Black Friday day for the past five years. Excess, time-concentrated production is consumption is not only unsustainable, it causes environmental pollution and deaths -- for people who have been unlucky to visit a a particularly crowded shopping mall . Boycott is not as effective as switching to more effective practices. This is why I made Fuck Black Friday -- a gallery of companies who are doing good things with their proceeds on that day. I am planning to add more companies, especially tech and environmentally-friendly ones. Stay tuned!
