Are AI comments a (good) future for social media?
Today I read this message:
Instagram has just added the ability to write comments with AI.
A similar option LinkedIn has (it offers pre-written recommended comments like "Congratulations")
In my opinion, social media is about being Social.
But I also understand the development of technology, the attention economy and the mass of content produced.
We are being pushed to speed up everything with artificial intelligence. That's why we see more tools on the market that will write comments for us.
How do you perceive it? Does using AI comments make sense?
I personally see it this way:
I use AI for grammar correction
This is perhaps more worthwhile for big creators to interact with their fans faster and on a large scale at minimal cost
I would rather see some cooperation between a human and AI (for example, being aware of what the AI wrote and I will edit it according to my own needs)
Maybe AI interaction will bore us so much in the online space that we will start communicating with each other offline (face-to-face).

I could imagine it in administrative work... but I do not think this will get to the government or so (maybe in DOGE) :D

@_hounter_007 I see this on X predominantly, then LI, IG and Facebook but the bots are different. In some cases it is difficult to see which one is human and which one is a bot.

I think it kills the idea of networks being "social".
AI-powered writing companions - OK, AI-powered image creation tools - more or less OK, but auto-generation of posts just to fill whole feed with spam - weird thing.

@anton_volgin that's what I am talking about, just for a sack of commenting, rather do not comment at all when your whole comment will be generated by AI. I can open ChatGPT too :D

Well abusing it just makes the world a ground for machines to talk to each other. AI should be used to brainstorm, build the bones of your content but never replace the human touch. The best content still comes from real experiences, emotions, and perspectives.

@jawad_tijani I have the same opinion. Using AI – it becomes less personal. It feels like we are lazy to communicate with each other.
I use ChatGPT to reformat documents such as emails. I'll usually take a few iterations, but ultimately it saves me a lot of time and allows me to convey more information.
If I was to type it all out manually, I could end up missing out some essential points because I would be distracted by making sure the document looked presentable.
Of course we want comments from real human, otherwise I might as well just go directly to ChatGPT.

I think that some platforms already use AI labels :)
I think the better framing is: “Are AI-powered actions reducing noise or adding to it?”
We’ve been thinking about this through a different lens..using AI not to generate content, but to support teams with real context-driven workflows (email, prep, follow-up).
There’s value in automation… when it actually removes noise.

IMO, when you know how to collaborate with AI – to be in synergy, the outcome can be pretty good. It should feel like a human (which requires a little bit of human touch). Unfortunately, many people just do CTRL+C and CTRL+V.
not really. i think soon people will forget how to write grammatically correct. Life doesn’t always offer second chances to pause and reflect, so when you get one, you take it. I had been on autopilot for too long, saying yes to everything and never prioritizing myself.
