Tech stack is a big one - also how to provide value and monetize without killing the trust that's being built

Getting people to be in consensus about advancing the community, and getting them committed to spend the time and energy towards this. In my experience, everyone has a different motivation for participating in the community, so finding a unified vision that will intrinsically motivate the whole community takes some effort. But if you can find it, the community will take on a life of its own.
Haven't started building a community yet, but I'm keen to hear thoughts on community building for an app only company versus app and website. I have heard it's easier to build a community with a strong web presence.
Building the Community (meaning encouraging support). That's been my experience plain and simple.
I am the deveooper of: EZ Notes on google play store.
You guys would have no idea what I continue to go through after 8 years, to gain visibility, do marketing, keep engagements high etc. It is absolutely a nighmarish amount of work (especially for one single lone developer trying to do all that on his own like I have been).
If any of you fine folks are developers, and have some ideas of how best to grow a promising (useful app)... please feel free to share those here with me and for the benefit of thers as well. I have been approached many times over the years from marketing companies from India... claiming they will boost my sales and put Google Ads for my Application on Google Play Store to help me get downloads etc... But I never seem to trust that their fees would compensate for the slow downloads. In other words, if they charge hundreds of dollars , there is no guarantee that just because your App appears a the top of the search list on Google Play Store, and has one of those Google "Ad" signs next to it and is at the top of the list... this by no means guarantees anything right? Especially if the App is a PAID app like mine. So that leaves me wondering, how are paid app developers supposed to improve their visibility, growth, downloads etc? Looking at my play store you may think it has been EZ, but trust me it has been anything but EZ and the downloads and revenues for a paid app are extremely slow from my experience. This is why I have come and joined this community to see what I may have been doing right or wrong all these past 8 years (as a single person who has not only had to develop, but market). Literally my entire back and arms are in pain and my health is deteriorating from all this insane amount of desk work and sitting down. So any suggestions and support is greatly appreciated.
Keeping the community nourished in the form of value to the members. This requires time and effort especially when first starting out. Community will not grow when they see no value or do not feel comfortable engaging. Once it catches on with engaged members, it can become easier because everyone is then contributing more (and they will start inviting other like minded people).
