Do you use notetaking apps? Which one would you suggest and why? 🙏🏼

by
I have been using pen and paper mostly, because I like just being able to use all the space freely. But recently I ordered an iPad, so wanted to try this with the Pen. Considering that I'll also switch all my notetaking, from my computer too, which would be the best option?

I go back and forth between Google docs and the Notes app on my iPad, both work fine for me :) But if you have a pen, I know people always rave about goodnotes.

@hannahsuyun I use both occasionally for non-work related notes, i like to differ work notes from personal notes. Will check out Goodnotes!

Notion for sure. I didn't try it with iPad + pen yet but at least I heard it's supported. One thing that I am really missing in Notion: ability to use tags in a way Bear does it - I am just so obsessed managing everything with hashtags.

@anorparker Have heard a lot of Notion suggestions but some have said that there are sometimes performance issues. Do you have any input on that? Thanks!

Otherwise, for notes I mostly use Google Docs / excel spreadsheets sometimes for categorized notes :)

@ko25 I use google docs for personal notes, for some reason! So i am in need of a place to sort work notes.

I use RemNote for 4 months now, it's amazing with a bunch of features that doesn't exist in other note-taking applications. They took the app recently to a new level by adding PDF editor and Aliases. I use it primarily for studying because of the implemented flashcards and spaced repetition.

@martin_henry1 I am seeing a lot of RemNote suggestions! Seems like a good choice, will give it a try!

If you are a student wanting to ace your exams and make the knowledge stick with you, meet the child of Roam and Anki. RemNote :) For the 1st phase of note taking I use Samsung Notes.

@bruno_miranda4 RemNote seems like one of the best options out there! Will give it a try soon, thanks!

I really love @everythingnoted it's like Apple Notes on steriods, it records and transcribes and is affordable.

Evernote since 2011 ! Access on any platform, a lot of features, which cover all my needs

@nyushechka_z Seeing a pattern with all the comments saying "Been using Evernote since 20XX" haha. Seems like the best option!

GoodNotes is good. Helps you with writing on iPad and draw figures as well. Another good option will be Nebo. Each has their pros and cons. Nebo has a freemium version whereas GoodNotes is paid.

@saminathan_viswanathan I don't mind paying for an app, it seems like a good investment. But will check out Nebo too, first time anyone mentioned it!

@baris_bingol Nebo is developed by Myscript. These are the folks that developed the algorithm engine that converts handwriting to words which are used by other note taking apps such as Goodnotes, notability and so on. Each note taking app has its own pros and cons. It depends upon your usage. Do take it for a spin.

I think its important to know what computer you use too. I own an iPad and a windows laptop. For most of my notes - especially slide related, I use OneNote (not the best notetaking app) just because I can sync easily with my windows laptop and add anything from my windows laptop very conveniently. I also have GoodNotes which I use for viewing pdf related stuff on my iPad. (If I need the pagination, comments, bookmarks, etc -- you lose all these in OneNote). Notability is similar to GoodNotes. I use Notion for many general notes which I dont need to draw or write with a pen.

@daryllman This is a really important point, which has not been brought to my attention before! I don't have an apple pc so will pay attention to this.

For any kinds of notes - from the memo to taking notes in a meeting or a class, I would definitely recommend Notion. This tool enables you to do whatever you want thanks to various templates and features, and of course you can use it on your phone, tablet, computer, whatever you're using. Hope you'll try it :)

@claire_luchetta Have heard a lot of great things about Notion, and also some bad. But i'm definitely going to give it a go, thank you for your suggestion!
