Growing a newsletter and a website to 35K subscribers and 100K visitors per month in 2 years. AMA πŸ‘‡

Hi everyone! I'm the founder of Ness Labs, a platform to help knowledge workers achieve more without sacrificing their mental health. We publish evidence-based content around productivity, creativity, and knowledge management. Our weekly newsletter is read by 35,000 subscribers, and we have around 100,000 people visiting our website each month. We monetize these through sponsored interviews with founders of tools for thought. Past sponsors include Notion, Obsidian, and MindMeister. We also run a paid community for knowledge workers with 2,500 members. Finally, I'm experimenting with a YouTube channel β€” still very new and definitely out of my comfort zone! I sent the very first newsletter two years ago. You can see the Product Hunt launch from 2019 here and my first AMA here. It's been an amazing journey, with now two employees and a team of freelance writers. Ask me anything about starting a content business from scratch, building an audience on Twitter, managing a community, or anything else you want to know more about :)

Hi Ann-Laure, Awesome achievements! Congratulations!! I've read your answers here, and I understand that you recommend having 1K adopters before haunting your product, since they can "attest" that you really offer value. I realize my plan was inverted since I was relying on PH to gain my first 1K users. The idea is to build a community with whom I share why the product I'm lunching matters, and then have them ready to try out the solution as soon as I launch. Do you think it is feasible this way, or do you believe it's hard to get people's attention when no product is ready yet? A few words about the product I'm working, to show it is intended for a wide variety of people: WeAlly.org allows customers of any business to join requests/complaints of other customers. Instead of filing their requests each alone, they can exchange about their respective experience online. They can also have real time stats about the satisfaction of other customers, as each can mark his request as "solved" Thanks for taking the time for me :-)

I've launched my own newsletter (sales & marketing tips for early-stage SaaS founders) 3 weeks ago as a side project. What were the top 3 growth channels for you to grow your subscriber list to 1000 (targeting your ideal customer persona)?

Hi Anne, curious how you manage the freelance writers and if you have considered using AI copy-writing tools like jasper.ai? Asking as we at Kittl trying to optimize the way we work with blogs and copy writers.
