How did you choose your product/startup name?

by
Crewting is a mix of "Crew" and "Meeting". So share your thoughts behind your name and where you got the idea? In the shower or in the office?

Wrote all the ideas out, what sounded the best, and which domains are available.

Well that's interesting because my first startup was Getillustrations and i wanted a domain name with the name illustrations and get was kind of popular back then.. now my new startup is vectopus and the name is from Vector Octopus.. the startup idea is a Marketplace for vector assets and the name signifies that! It was a long search to find a name that is not taken as .com and the same time means something related to the business!

We are about to launch a SAAS platform JobFitIQ. The long term vision would be to automate the full hiring process once the candidate's CV has been received. This applies for blue collar/grey collar jobs. The tool would itself suggest questions based on the JD and evaluate the answers given by the candidate. The name was chosen based on the capability play and IQ was appended where we wanted to indicate this as an intelligence factor. Ofcourse the availability of the relevant domain was also the factor

I can say to you that I'm the worst person in the world to give names for anything, ahahah. My dog is called 'Harry Potter' (I'm a big fan). My digital agency is called 'ZeroEleven' because it's the area code where the agency is located (São Paulo, Brazil), and here we say '011' like zero eleven 😂😂

there are 7 different types of brand names: descriptive (booking.com) where it's very straightforward and gives out what the company does, Evocative - you can take an existing word and give it a new meaning (apple, amazon), invented - when you invent a new word (pixar, adidas), lexical (tumblr, dunkin'donuts), acronyms (BMW, MTV), geographical (KFC), Founder - companies named after the founder (ford, calvin klein), mashing the words associated with your company is a common and a good way to create a brand name, gives out what the company does while having an originality and a feeling like creating a new word for it, so good call on that! our company Biliki AI actually comes from a Georgian word 'Biliki' which means 'path' or 'pathway'!

I thought Crewting was for recruiting. They sound very similar in a Northern English accent (in my head). In a London accent, it could be more like crew-ting

Comtrax - it's a mix between "comfortable" and "trade".

Giving your project a name is the hardest part for me personally. That’s why I give it 10 names and then go with the one that sticks hahaha I’ll let you on a secret! Shadow was almost called Jarvis or Robin at one point HAHA
