How do you get back to work when you lose focus?

by
It is the thing I struggle with the most. I usually get up grab a cup of coffee and get back to work but it doesn't always do the trick for me. So what are your tactics?

Take some break. Take fresh air and hot tea 🍵

I listen to some songs, walk for a few minutes and get back to it again!

I do some relaxation activities, try to involve completely irrelevant stuff (not related to work), and completely take off for a while, it restores my focus.

I repeat it to myself that a better day awaits me and until then I will take one day at a time!

After a break, I go back to my task journal. Rewrite it afresh for the day. Re-writing it enforces personal investment, gets me going again.

Take a break, return to the priority task. I easily lose focus and therefore try not to create such situations. Usually this means not setting yourself more than one big task per day, strictly separating task lists by priority in the task manager. When a bunch of tasks hang in the task manager, it demotivates you to do at least something.

Put body into movement. Stand up, walk, do something. If it fails, write down what you wanted to do, leave it for 5 minutes, read it again and kill every other thing you do on your laptop or mobile if this is the tool needed for you to continue working.

I will watch a movie or go for a walk. Also, I will try not to think about it too much. Because the more I think, I will be frustrated more and I will waste some more time.

There are a couple of things that I found helpful when trying to be productive. 1. I try to break down my tasks into smaller bits and work on those that is easily achievable. As I keep going and gain momentum, I find myself being able to work on more challenging tasks. 2. Clean workspace and setting up the right environment! I tend to work better without clutters (digitally and physically) and with a few music playlists that can also help me concentrate better. However, I'd like to think it's nice to remind ourselves that there will be some days where we simply aren't as productive as other days, and that's okay. We can always get back on track if we let ourselves take a break sometime. :)

If I get into a rut, I pre-plan the night before the ONE thing that I am going to accomplish. Just one. Then after I do that one thing, 9 times out of 10 I'm looking for something else to go ahead and do. Projects can get overwhelming, and breaking them down into easy to manage items that can help you ramp up. You don't have to break the entire project down, but when you get to a section, having simple to solve issues helps get you in the zone to do more. Just my 2 cents!
