Hi Dru, which business models are the most capital efficient that you come across? It would be interesting to spice up the question up with "from the past 2 years", "the present", and "the next 2-3 years". Thanks
Dru Riley
@kaisen2350 Network effects are hard to beat. So marketplaces and social networks. This would withstand the past 2 years constraint and the next two years constraint. Even if we're looking at NFT projects in 3 years. They still employ network effects. The question becomes more interesting if we ask the same question for business models that are easy to bootstrap.

Hello Dru, Thanks for the AMA. What was your most important daily task while you are reaching the first 1000 subscribers to your newsletter?
Dru Riley
@sefasarikaya Meditation. See my reply to @stewartfortier If you want a growth-specific task, it was building in public on Twitter.
Sefa Sarıkaya
@dru_riley I appreciate your answer. I will definitely try to do uncomfortable things every day.

What is your best advice in growing users for a consumer focused product organically?
Dru Riley
@dynamo It will vary a lot depending on the product and who you're serving. Need more information before I can share strategies/tactics.

Hey Dru! Thanks for doing this! My question is how you manage a community as big as Trends as effectively as you do!
Dru Riley
@aaronoleary We are extremely thoughtful about the number of channels we have and "design" of the community. @stewartfortier was a big inspiration here. Since rituals have the same "rules" each time. It makes things easier. We've done standups for 600+ days. The system has been honed.

Hi Dru Riley, Thanks for opening this thread. 😀 We are making a product, a plug-in for Jira, which is currently in beta testing, but is progressing slowly so far. In addition to this, in parallel, we decided to pre-launch a new product (related to the previous one but more ambitious) and try to sell it before the initial launch 🚀. https://www.producthunt.com/disc... Have you had experience with such a launch? Please advise what we are doing right and what we need to improve? Looking forward to your advice.
Dru Riley
@sergeipetrov Everything I've learned about Product Hunt launches went into this post: https://www.indiehackers.com/pro... One thing that wasn't included: If you're aiming for Product of the Month, launch earlier in the month. It's obvious but easy to miss.

@dru_riley Thank you for your response and for what you are doing. A really interesting format and your interest in interacting with the community is obvious. Keep it up!

Hey Dru, great initiative. My question for you is when it comes to engagement with content over social handles what key points 🎯 do you consider?
Dru Riley
@debi_barik When I was more active on social media, I paid a lot of attention to retweets. I spend more time thinking about email these days. And click rate means a lot.
Debi Barik
@dru_riley Thank you for the tips.

We are working on a product like Grammarly in the B2B space, like assume instead of it being a grammar correction product, the focus is on removing offensive messages, racism etc. from communications. Should we assume that people might not be that thrilled to come face to face with their bias, in such a scenario what would you suggest to effectively market our product.
Dru Riley
@pranav_sathiadevan As you said, it seems like success would depend on community managers knowing that they have this problem. My bet is that most successful people don't put their head in the sand when it comes to these things. I recently heard an interview with Pieter Levels where he talked about the need to hire a moderator for the NomadList community. Some folks are aware of this problem. The hard question is: How do you reach them at this stage of the buying cycle? One idea is to build the relationship earlier and stay top of mind until the community grows to a hard-to-manage size. This depends on building a lead magnet and providing continuing value.

Hey Dru, just joined Trends.vc! The web looks amazing. Also, interested in One-Person Businesses right now. What's your idea first comes in your mind about One-Person Businesses?
Dru Riley
@ayena_umar Thanks for joining Ayena. Leverage (no-code, social media, etc) seems like a big reason why one-person businesses are more common than ever. So leverage is the first thing that comes to mind.

@dru_riley thanks!

Is there a category name for websites whose core value in it is content? like Trends.vc, resource curating websites, tips & tricks, design checklists .. etc
Dru Riley
@ayman_alrifai1 You can look for media businesses. "The business of content" podcast features founders of these businesses.
