Is flat pricing better than token top-ups for low cost AI tools?

Everyone keeps telling AI builders to use pay as you-go tokens or wallet credits so they don't get crushed by API costs.

If your backend usage per user is super cheap though sticking to a regular monthly plan removes so much friction during checkout.

If you went with flat subscription instead of token billing did it hurt your margins or did conversion make up for it?
