Is social media organic reach basically dead for new startups?
by•
Posting on linkedin X and facebook feels like shouting into a void lately. You spend hours on a post just for it to get buried in ten minutes with zero clicks back to your site.
Free listing sites don't seem to drive any real signups either.
For anyone who actually built organic traffic recently without a budget what channel is actually worth putting effort into right now?

I did a test on boosting a post on X, and seeing what happens organically.
For my organic post (which is based on your own network of follows and the reach based on factors like Verified status etc) = < 100 views, 0 engagements
For my boosted post (which reaches beyond your own network, etc) = 3.5M views, 3.1K engagements - I also set a budget of £300 to run it for a few days, it went over budget itself (£384).
Nothing moved the needle really, the views were great, I did get some more follows, lots of bookmarks and likes etc, but the CR on that was 0.876% - also no sales
Now, there is probably more to read into it:
Was the post setup to be engaging? (probably not)
Was the service ready, or did I prematurely jump the gun? (half and half)
I'm currently trialling something similar on LinkedIn, but even from those initial tests, I get the feeling that organic alone is not enough, unless you have a really wide network.
Now, additionally, profile visibility is an interesting thing. I'm running Grok Bot and I have a few little bots doing different things. One of them monitors a handful of high profile accounts for the information I want to keep track, and generate reply tweets that I can post as close (timing wise) to the original post being dropped, because that early engagement, early positioning of replies on an X thread does garner more likes, views, etc. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to do this to help grow follows and therefore exposure.
