Launching product during a "lower-traffic" weekend? Maybe 3 things would help.

Many people who want to achieve the Product of the Day badge prefer to schedule their product for a less busy day (aka, when there is less competition), but also less site traffic and product testing.

You may lose a little promotional opportunity this way.

Of course, you can always convince people to support you.

For example:

  1. Notify people in advance in DMs on social media that the launch is taking place on the weekend.

  2. Ask for support from people who are also launching the product on the weekend (but not on a given competitive day, e.g. if you launch on Saturday, ask for help from people who launch on Sunday)

  3. Go for promotion on platforms where people are definitely more online during the weekend (e.g. it doesn't have to be LinkedIn as much as X).

What tactics have helped you to get better results when you were launching during the weekend?

I'm considering launching on a Friday. I am reaching out to my crowdfunding crew and LinkedIN network, plus posting, of course. I had a question for you! How can one support another's launch, in addition to upvoting? For instance, am I allowed to post something about Minimalist Phone and my experience in General? Or is elsewhere better? You've proven the strength and goodwill of this community! How can we help one another when someone launches (within the rules of course)?

@felicitemoorman Maybe when you post something in a subforum, it can help. Or e.g. when you create a post. Nothing works better than WOM and relationship marketing.

@busmark_w_nika Alright! I'm on it!

@felicitemoorman If you are about to launch, DM on LinkedIn :)

@busmark_w_nika On it! Thanks, Nika!

I try to inform people about my product on social media groups related to PH.
However, l'm banned immediately. That's why l do not choose a day where traffic is low.
I'll take your advice and try to dm people rather than collectively informing them about my product on social media groups

@eren_kiratli Which groups did you use?

Ha, hadn't thought of that. While I'd love a badge, the goal is eyeballs on the product. Doing the work of notifying people on LI, X, Bluesky, etc is best I think.

@tinyorgtech Personal brand helps a lot. Because people are attracted by your moves.

This matches my experience pretty closely. Lower competition ≠ easier launch if attention is thin.

One thing that helped us on a weekend launch was front-loading engagement: lining up a few thoughtful comments and early users before the launch, so the page didn’t feel “empty” when traffic was lower.

Also noticed that weekends work better for tools people explore in depth (productivity, dev tools) vs. impulse apps — people actually have time to test and comment.

Curious if anyone has experimented with a soft launch on Friday + full push Saturday, instead of a single-day spike?
