The Moment I Stopped Being Impressed by My Own Work

by•

For the first few months of building, everything felt like magic. I would make something and sit there genuinely amazed that I had made it.

That feeling is gone now. Not because the work got worse. Because I got used to it.

And I think that's the exact moment the real work started. When the output stopped being impressive, I started looking at it properly. I could see the parts that were lazy. The parts that wouldn't hold up. The parts that worked but felt like a first draft. None of that was visible while I was still clapping at my own screen.

Getting bored of the magic is not a loss. It's the point where you stop being a spectator of your own work and start being the one who has to stand behind it.

Have you passed that point yet? And did the work get better or just less fun when you did?
