Most people talk about build an MVP, creating a momentum, find a VC to Raise your startup, but I think more important than that, is to create a strong community of believers and collaborators that support you and your product. That I'm doing with XFX, a Startup that I will launch soon. I've using Slyk.io to reward my community for helping me grow. Also, I'm creating a Launch Guide that I called "Launch Playbook" to help founders get prepared by creating a strong community, before launch.
