What is the strangest thing you schedule time for in your calendar?

If you live and breathe by your calendar, what do you block time for beyond the usual meetings and events?

I see a lot of people reacting with things that they no not want to forget. But do not forget also that planning things in your calendar, also gives you a grip of your time. Time is the only thing that is really limited, and everyone has the same amount of it. So allocating time for actions, tasks gives you the ability to use your time in the best way. Lunch seems funny to plan. Why would you forget. But it also blocks that time to do other things during that moment.

@patrickloonstra I couldn't agree more with your perspective on the importance of allocating your time where it matters. I find it interesting how much our calendars have gone from being just events, to also being a way to prioritize and protect time. I was watching a video the other day on the importance of building rest and recovery moments in our day after cognitively intense work sessions in the same way we would after an intense workout. I think there's something to it.

@ofirenglin πŸ˜‚ My first instinct was to laugh at this, but then I realized how long it's been since I got my hair cut. You might be onto something!

I organize time to do housework, in addition to going to the gym, but someone has to do the laundry. xD
Brenna Donoghue
@karen_sanchez21 ahhhhhh so maybe that's why my house looks like a hot mess right now?!
Karen SΓ‘nchez
@brenna_donoghue Hahaha I'm not going to judge. πŸ˜† Maybe I clean a lot because I mess a lot πŸ™ˆ

15 mins of relax time after each meeting.
Brenna Donoghue
@aaron_arias I need that kind of discipline in my life (and calendar!). Do you have rules set in your calendar to protect this time?
Aaron Marco Arias
@brenna_donoghue Yes, I use Reclaim, which automatically creates a 15-minute event after all of my meetings.

Focus time, gym/run/surf, walking to and from meetings, coffee or drinks with friends, naps, new episodes of apple tv shows that come out on Thursdays or Fridays πŸ˜… all neatly planned in my Morgen calendar.

@fitletes I wonder if I can convince my baby to buy into doing the same.

Fishing! I recently blocked half a day to go do that w/ my young son, who I'd been been promising "sometime" to for too long (we had a fantastic time). That and a couple other experiences have made me realize how great half a day can be β€” it's easier to fit / schedule (and thus much more likely to actually happen) than taking a full day off, but still long enough to be meaningful for important things that never seem to fit on the weekends.

@nrparsons oh my gosh yes. The idea of taking off a full day feels overwhelming. I love this. I recently moved to Switzerland where kids all have Wednesday afternoons off. Whenever I have a chance to spend a Wednesday afternoon with them, it makes the whole week feel so much better.

@brenna_donoghue That's awesome, what a great cultural institution, for kids and parents both!
