Whats the future of the AI industry?

by

Hello PHs!!

With every new release, OpenAI is killing many startups and smaller companies. For example, the latest OpenAI Agents will surely make some existing AI agents obsolete...

How do you foresee the future of the industry? Do you think the future of AI is heading toward a concentration of power among big whales like OpenAI, Google, Meta, etc.?

Or do you think there will always be untouched categories where these big corporations won’t venture, allowing smaller companies to emerge?

Curious to know what AI product Makers think!

There are 2 groups - one that is creating and refining AI technology and Infra eg OpenAI; and second that is applying it to solve real world problems. So, I don’t think it’s about concentration of power. By the way there is still a lot of research remaining especially to ensure that the model outputs don’t worsen - and it’s happening i.e in some general use cases the outputs have worsened while in other cases it has improved. But even with that, the companies in second group have a lot of catch up remaining. There’s still lot of untapped potential.

@manu_goel2 Thanks for your comment!

I agree with this but arent you noticing that companies in the first group such as OpenAI are also now moving towards the second group (applying the technology to solve customer needs?).

PS: We are both launching, let's support each other :)
