When do you buy the domain?

by•
When you have a new idea do you buy the domain straight away or wait a while? I tend to get the domain first hence why I have about 10 unused domains right now 😬

Have a plan in place for what you are offering first. The name can be changeable, if need be, and you need to be flexible anyway because the domain you want may not be available. Once you know what you're going to offer, make a list of 10 or more potential names and variations. Begin your domain search once you know you're ready to buy. If you search too soon, you risk that domain name being taken as there are bots that track what you're doing and buy up highly searched domains. You don't want to trigger those bots to buy the one you are searching.

I buy it whenever I have an idea that I can't get out of my head for atleast two consecutive nights!

When you've got at least 3 people telling you that they'll buy what you are selling.

As soon as I get the idea for it I check the domain. If the price is right, I buy!

Always buy it as soon as I have the idea - I have so many in used ones now. I guess its a reminder of the ideas you didn’t see through.

I also purchase the domain as soon as possible. My accountant says I spend way too much money on domain names but my opinion is that if it's there you've got to jump on it. To reduce waste, I often turn unused domain names into SEO testing domains. That way, at the very least, the registration cost goes toward learning.

Haha I'm the same, Aaron. Even though that is the case, I think it helps really get the excitement going.. but this is not advice!
