When your dashboard looks great, but users are actually struggling in silence?
by•
It’s so easy to get addicted to looking at positive analytics and charts that go up and to the right. I remember celebrating a bump in feature clicks, only to realize later through a quick user call that people were just clicking around out of pure confusion because the layout didn't make sense. The metrics counted it as high engagement, but reality was completely different. Have you ever trusted a green dashboard metric only to find out later that the actual user experience was broken?

Yes. The easy green number in my app is songs created: a song generated means the whole expensive pipeline worked. But counting plays showed that 67 of 145 people never pressed play on the song they had just made. Creation counts the work, not the moment the user gets anything from it. Now a finished song starts playing by itself after a short reveal, so the first listen does not depend on someone finding the play button.
