Accept Crypto Payments - Yes or No?

by•

What's everyone's sentiment on that? I'd like to introduce a feature where creators can choose to receive payments in crypto.

This makes sense. a number of crypto native platforms already offer this as an opt in payout method. (especially via stablecoins. So the pattern is proven.

@librarian_vivian That's my view on it. Thanks!

It’s a win for global creators and crypto-native audiences, but still adds friction for many buyers. Let creators choose it alongside fiat, and you get upside without hurting conversions.

@claudia_dennis So the checkout process for creators who opt in for crypto will show the Stripe choice or Pay with crypto. I'll probably use Stripe elements to place both in a single step instead of another choice screen.

I'd say yes but cautiously. I like innovation and crypto can help creators avoid fees and boarders. Personally, I'd only support it if the UX is simple and creators aren't exposed to unnecessary risk or confusion.

@balakrisnan_h @Coinbase and the base.org framework would probably come handy here.

Its the future, only accept certain coins like BTC, Eth, xrp. Mirror what banks are doing, they are in the business of making money and not losing…

Daniel Kazak

@wil_ramos Yeah that'd minimize any risk for the creators and the platform, so i highly agree on that. Thanks Wil

Also, salary in crypto? I would welcome this, but also divided. Like 50% in cash (normal currency) and 50% in crypto.

@busmark_w_nika I mean content you choose to monetize with crypto payments, pays out instantly.. not 50/50
