Building a non-AI SaaS feels weird here

by•
My name is George, I just joined PH and Im building statpotion.com (released today 🎉). It has zero ai-functionality implemented and I feel like the odd one out. Never knew that 90% of the products released today have some LLM implemented to automate some task. Just a random observation. Very glad to be part of this community. I have a few MVPs in the pipeline so you’ll probably hear more from me in the future! Keep on keeping on

I can totally relate to this. While building my own SaaS, I had the same dilemma, am I starting one step behind by not adding AI?

Then I realized AI is just a tool, like any other framework or library. It doesn’t have to be everywhere, it just needs to be where it actually enhances the experience.

Now, before building any feature, I ask myself: “Would an AI capability add real value here?”

For e.g. I built a daily quotes widget. At first, it felt complete. But then I thought, sometimes users might not fully understand a quote or know how to apply it. That’s where AI made sense: I added an option to explain the quote, give an example, or suggest applications.

On the other hand, I built a to-do list. Would AI add value there? Probably not. It would be overkill, so I skipped it.

So in the end, it’s not about keeping up with the AI trend, but about using it where it actually makes the product better.

Welcome to PH ! :)

If you ride into battle, carrying a banner that represents the "Non-Ai" rebels, I would be honored to ride beside you, comrade. Do we ride at dawn, my liege?

Non-fantasy-talk : Your Saas is amazing! Ai could never. Congratulations on the launch!
