I quit my corporate legal job to build an AI tool for accessible contract review

by

Hey PH community 👋

I wanted to share my maker journey with you all, as I'm gearing up to launch my first ever product here on Product Hunt later this month.

For 6 years, I worked as a corporate legal counsel, and every single day I saw the same problem: small business owners and freelancers would come to us with contract disputes that could have been 100% avoided — if they'd just caught one unfair clause before signing. But they couldn't afford our $300+/hour rates to review a simple 2-page client contract.

It broke my heart, and I knew there had to be a better way. So 3 months ago, I quit my stable corporate job, and started building ContractGuard AI: an AI-powered contract review tool that lets anyone upload a contract, get a full risk assessment in 30 seconds, spot hidden loopholes and unfair terms, without paying hundreds in legal fees.

It's been a wild ride: learning full-stack development, building with AI tools, interviewing 50+ potential users, and iterating the product nonstop based on their feedback. I'm not a big company with a huge team and budget — I'm just one person, building a tool to solve a problem I truly care about.

I'd love to hear from fellow makers: what's the biggest challenge you've faced building your first product? Any tips for a first-time launcher here on PH?

Thanks so much for reading, can't wait to share more soon!
