This is my take on a streaming music service: lots of mellow lo-fi and other great tracks to put on in the background while you work or study. I think a venue that brings artists and fans together in a friendly way will be a great benefit to the community.
I am in the habit of playing background music while working. But it's really time-consuming to find or create a new playlist every time. So this is really great what you have created.
Congratulations on the launch! π
i like the simplicity design! cool idea! Im curious and didn't get the point on how exactly this is better for the artists then youtube live or e.g. spotify? And to be honest espacially lofi in the background i rarely thought about the artists yet.
I would add an share button to invite listeners to share it. Uw and how about an PWA (haha im big fan of those) but could be nice to have it as an little app and not hidden somewhere in my browser tabs ;)
@phoheisel Thank you for the kind words and thoughtful suggestions! Iβll generalize some on what I understand of the business. I think getting on a popular YT stream is a big deal for many artists. I think a common way to get there is to give ownership or an exclusive license for one or more tracks to the label that runs the stream. The stream is the top of the sales funnel for the label: they monetize by sending folks from the stream to Spotify or iTunes, so ownership of the track is important to them. For the artist, this exclusivity limits somewhat how they can use and promote their songs. I donβt ask for ownership or exclusivity, so the artists retain more control over their intellectual property.
@phoheisel Hey, I just wanted to say thanks again and let you know that I've added a "tweet" link at your suggestion. What other places do you think it might share well?
@aparks cool! :) would out the Web Share API or a simple "copy to clipboard link" so you woudn't have to prepare every social media and let users choose instead.

P.S. I'll send you som lofi tunes I made a few years ago. π€«
I get a lot out of lo-fi music and I thought it would be nice to make a nice place where lo-fi artists and listeners could find one-another. Working on this project, Iβve already had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know so many artists and listeners and learn from them. Things are really coming together, so I thought it would be a good time to reach out and meet even more folks to keep learning and make it even better!
Iβm happy to answer any questions I can, whether theyβre technical, philosophical, or business related. I hope in return youβll check out Lofi Limo and let me know what you think: what you like, what you donβt like, what could be better. Please tell a friend too, because the more the merrier!
