Team Claude Code or Codex ?

I was more used to Claude Code. Codex is okay, but not good for chatting the way I liked :D

Sol is incredibly quick when it comes to handling daily heavy lifting and background tasks. For those really complex, deep refactors, I still turn to Claude Code, but lately, Codex has taken the lead as my go to tool.

Last 2 months I use Codex more. I switch depending on the job. For a change that touches a real codebase, I care more about whether the agent can follow the existing patterns, run the tests, and leave a small reviewable diff than how pleasant the chat feels.

For open-ended exploration, I still want a more conversational loop. So I don’t think one tool wins every task. The deciding factor for me is how much verification the task needs after the first answer.

the axis nobody picks in these threads is which one you can constrain, and for me that decides it more than raw model quality does. what i care about is whether i can write down, in a file the thing reads before it starts, the four or five rules it is not allowed to break. branch naming, which commands it may run unattended, what it must never touch. once that surface is good the model quality question mostly stops mattering to me, because the failures i actually pay for arent bad code, theyre the model redeciding something id already settled. the chatting point above is the same thing from the other side. conversational use wants flexibility, handing it a job and walking away wants the opposite. i suspect a lot of the disagreement in threads like this is people using two different products and calling them one.
