What we learned launching Nimply on Product Hunt

by•

Launch day closed a few minutes ago. The honest numbers, and the one thing we would change.

Numbers (23 Sep, 12:01 PM to 24 Sep, 11:59 AM PKT):

- 31 points, 20 comments (we answered every one), 5 reviews.

- About 290 new Nimply signups across the launch window, 175 on launch day itself. No paid conversions yet. The signups came mostly from LinkedIn and Facebook posts by the team and friends, not from the Product Hunt page.

- We were not Featured, which means the launch never appeared on the daily leaderboard at all. We only understood what that meant on the day.

What worked: answering every comment within minutes, and the "agents draft, you approve" framing. Nearly every real question was about control, not features.

The one thing we would change: we treated launch day as the event. Next time we would spend the two weeks before it in these forums and in the communities where our users already are, so that on the day people already know who we are. A launch page with 31 points and 20 thoughtful comments is a lead list, not a leaderboard, and we are treating it as one.

If you launched recently and saw something different, I would like to hear it.
