Once we had a working desktop version, we ran into something harder to diagnose.

People tried it and didn't stick. Not because it was broken — because it was overwhelming. NovaVoice does a lot of things. Context-aware formatting, a formatting popover, voice commands across apps, custom dictionary, AI assistant. For a new user sitting down for the first time, that's a lot to figure out.

We realized we were selling a Swiss Army knife to people who just needed to cut something.

The fix wasn't removing features. It was finding one entry point that was impossible to misunderstand — one button, one clear job to be done, one moment where the value is immediate and obvious. Dictate this. See what comes out. Everything else comes later.

That's still something we're working on. Onboarding is hard when your product is genuinely multi-dimensional.
