One Minute to Breathe - An experiment in mindfulness through simple breathing.

by
An experiment in mindfulness. One minute videos to allow you to simply breathe, refocus, and shed any stress that has been building up. This app is the result of 7 years, a smartwatch, a little bit of COVID, and the need to reduce stress and bring margin to my life again and I wanted to share it with others too. I didn't want it to be complex either. It's... Quick - One tap to access a video. Simple - No fancy prep. No gamification. Growing - Over 100 videos to access. More always being added.

Here's the full story (and journey) that brought OMTB to life... One Minute to Breathe was originally inspired by my first smart watch I bought about a decade ago. One day in the middle of work my watch vibrated and asked if I wanted to try a breathing exercise. I gave it a try. I spent a minute doing some deep breaths in rhythm with the pulsing rings. I found myself surprisingly refreshed after the exercise. I didn't do it too many times after that, but it made an impression. Fast forward to COVID. I'm working from a sewing desk with a stool for a chair in the corner of my master bedroom of our small town home. Like most people, the isolation, the meeting overload, and the extra adjustments needed to get a project completed increased the stress ten-fold. Needing a break, I stepped outside for a moment and looked down the road... The view of scattered clouds, partial sunset, and the quiet grabbed me. I stood there and just... breathed. It was probably only a minute of time, but it helped... surprisingly well. I remembered the watch. I had an idea. From there I started breathing more. Then I started recording some scenery I found peaceful (inspired by those "stream what's out my window to give you a different view of life during the pandemic" sites) to share with others. It generated some great feedback from friends, and I thought of different ways to share them... and now here's a mobile app for you. That way if you're stuck in an office with no windows or only the view of the concrete jungle you have a way to escape for a minute. I hope you enjoy and make sure to not work too hard. Let me know what else you'd like to see in the app or videos. Also, the Android version is coming soon! I just need to get through some of the pesky beta testing requirement. Please reach out if you're an Android user and willing to beta test.
