How I use Programmatic SEO to fight multi-million dollar apps 🥊
Hey PH! 👋
The Mac utility market is notoriously crowded. If you search for "Mac cleaner," you'll see multi-million dollar companies dominating the ads and the first page of Google. As a solo indie maker building OptiClear, I realized I couldn't win that war.
So, I decided to play a different game: Programmatic SEO (pSEO).
Instead of fighting for broad keywords, I targeted the specific pain points of specific users. Here is the exact playbook I am currently executing:
1️⃣ Hyper-Specific Targeting:
People don't search for "Mac cleaner." They search for "How to clear storage on MacBook Air M1." I created a dynamic page template for almost every Apple Silicon and Intel model (M1, M2, M3, Pro, Air, etc.). When a user lands on the page, they feel like the guide was written exactly for their machine.
2️⃣ Give the Solution for FREE First (The Manual Way):
This is the psychology part. On each page, I show them exactly how to clean their Mac manually. (e.g., Open Finder -> Hit ⌘+Shift+G -> Type ~/Library/Caches -> Select all -> Delete).

3️⃣ The "One-Click" Hook:
Right after giving them the manual, tedious, and slightly risky steps, I introduce the alternative: "Manual cleaning is exhausting and risky. OptiClear scans and safely deletes these files in seconds." Boom. A massive 'Download' button right there.
The Result? Instead of fighting a giant wall, I’m digging hundreds of small tunnels under it. It builds immediate trust because I solve their problem before asking for a download. Combined with the UI, this approach has helped push my App Store conversion rate to a crazy 13.2%.
