Permission Trail

Permission Trail - Expose and control what data websites actually store.

by
Most privacy tools focus only on cookies. Permission Trail goes further by showing everything websites store in your browser — including local storage, IndexedDB, cache storage, service workers and more — in one clean dashboard. It not only reveals hidden client-side storage, but lets users revoke or bulk-delete it easily. The new version also introduces a smart notification system for real-time storage awareness.

Permission Trail
Hey Product Hunt 👋 I built Permission Trail after realising how much data websites store beyond cookies. Most privacy conversations stop at cookie banners, but modern sites also use local storage, IndexedDB, cache storage and service workers. Rejecting cookies does not stop that. Permission Trail makes this visible in a simple dashboard. You can see what each site stores, understand how much data is sitting locally in your browser, and revoke or bulk delete it when you want. It also includes an exclusion system, so instead of constantly deleting everything, you can mark sites you trust and focus only on the ones that deserve attention. The goal is not paranoia, but learning which websites you are comfortable keeping data from 🧠 The latest version adds a notification system that alerts you when unusual storage activity happens, so transparency becomes automatic rather than manual 🔔 Should browsers make this level of storage visibility standard by default
