I was tired of my 10,000+ photo mess, so I built a private, swipe-to-sort Android app to fix it.
The Problem: The "Digital Junk" Anxiety
We love taking photos, but we hate managing them. Between accidental screenshots, blurry bursts, and poorly lit outtakes, our galleries become cluttered graveyards. Cleaning them feels like a monumental, boring chore. If you get interrupted halfway through, you lose your flow and never go back.
While iOS has a few sleek tools for this, the Android ecosystem has felt surprisingly empty in this department—despite us having some of the world’s best mobile camera hardware.
That’s why I built photoo.

What is photoo?
photoo is a native, minimalist Android tool designed to make photo management actually fun. Using a familiar "swipe-to-sort" interface, it turns a daunting task into a seamless experience.
Swipe-to-Sort: Left to trash, right to favorite, up to keep.
Photo Persona: AI analysis that generates your unique photography profile.
Memory Stream: Revisit your favorites in an immersive, short-video style feed.
Smart Cleaning: Automatically detects duplicates and low-quality shots.
Space Saver: Built-in video and image compression.
Native & Fluid: Designed specifically for Android with high-performance animations.
Global Accessibility: Optimized for users worldwide with native support for 14 major languages.

Privacy Isn't a Feature—It’s the Foundation
Your gallery is your most private space. When an app asks for "Full File Access," you should be skeptical. That’s why photoo is built on three unbreakable pillars:
Zero Internet Access: The app doesn't even ask for network permission.
Zero Data Upload: Everything stays 100% on your device.
Local Processing: All AI and analysis happen on-device.
To prove I’m serious, I made a radical choice: photoo is completely free, has no ads, no in-app purchases, and no subscriptions. Why? Because tracking SDKs and payment gateways require internet access and data collection.
By removing the revenue model, I’m ensuring your privacy is physically guaranteed. Upon official launch, the source code will be fully Open Source on GitHub for public security audits.
Small Details, Big Difference
I didn't just want another "cleaner" app; I wanted a "memory" app. Here’s how photoo feels different:
The "Serendipity" Shuffle: By default, cards are randomized. You might see a photo from last week followed by one from three years ago. It keeps you curious about what's next.
EXIF at a Glance: See the location, time, and AI-recognized tags at the bottom of every card to help you decide its fate.
Micro-Tasks: Photos are served in "decks" of 16. Whether you’re waiting for the bus or in line for coffee, you can finish a deck in 30 seconds without feeling overwhelmed.
Double "Safety Net": Mistakenly swiped left? You can undo the last action or review the entire "Trash" queue before the final deletion.
The Memory Flow: Your "Favorited" photos turn into a private, TikTok-style scrollable feed where you can even leave "time-capsule" comments for your future self.

A Gift to the Android Community
In the era of "Vibe Coding," anyone can prompt an AI to make a basic utility app in an afternoon.
But photoo isn't that. It’s a labor of love—polished animations, human-centric design, and a commitment to privacy that most commercial apps wouldn't dare to make.
Android users deserve high-quality, beautiful tools. I’m not looking to "disrupt" an industry;
I just want to make a friend and give back to the community of people who love capturing life.
