Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I’m Krishna, the maker behind PixLate. The idea started with a simple bedtime routine. I wanted to read illustrated children’s stories to my kid in Nepali -- the language I grew up speaking. Finding physical books was tough, and running digital pages through standard translators completely destroyed the layouts, covered the artwork, and made them unreadable. That frustration turned into PixLate: a dedicated workspace for translating content where the visual layout matters just as much as the words -- from comics and children's books to scanned diagrams and technical manuals. Most AI translation tools promise "one-click magic," but anyone who has used them knows the reality: AI still misinterprets character names, drops tiny labels, or misaligns text boxes. That’s why review and human-in-the-loop editing are the core of PixLate: * Keeps Layouts Intact: Translate across 100+ languages without stripping away original formatting, typography, or artwork. * Dual Engines: Visual AI for scanned artwork/comics, plus Text Layer mode for selectable vector PDFs. * Side-by-Side Review: Easily compare against the original page, adjust styles, and fix phrasing before exporting a clean, usable file. * Local-First & Private: Your files stay stored on your device; cloud processing is used strictly for the AI generation. * Pay-as-You-Go: No recurring monthly subscriptions. Free credits are included at sign-up so you can test it immediately. I built this to solve a personal pain point, so your feedback directly shapes where we take the tool next. What kinds of visual documents or media have you struggled to translate in the past? Excited to answer questions and hear your thoughts! 🚀
How did you use Cloud Run for this launch?
Google Cloud Run is used to host PixLate’s containerized FastAPI backend, which coordinates Gemini-powered translation, and image processing, alongside authentication and credit billing. A separate Cloud Run worker handles background translations through Cloud Tasks allowing users to submit documents for background processing. Cloud SQL stores account and job state, while Cloud Storage holds temporary processing files. Cloud Run lets us operate PixLate without maintaining dedicated servers. We can scale up as demand grows and scale down to zero during quiet periods.
