Hey Product Hunt! I'm the solo dev behind Planchette. I built a custom 1.7B parameter language model (Ouija2) specifically fine-tuned to talk like a spirit board, short, cryptic, sometimes unsettling. No OpenAI key, no cloud dependency. The thing I obsessed over most was making it feel real. The planchette leans into its target letter as it moves. A ghost echo trails behind it. Dust kicks up when it leaves a position. Shadow figures occasionally materialize on the board. Every animation is physics-informed, not random. I'm also a music producer (Surce Beats), so all the sound design is original — the ambient drone, every effect, everything. One thing I'm proud of: the crisis detection system. If someone asks something that signals they're in distress, in any of 20+ languages, the app catches it and shows real helpline resources. It fails closed, if the classifier errors, it assumes crisis. That felt non-negotiable for something that invites people to ask personal questions to a "spirit."
