Create auto-generated bug reports, share retroactive screenshots and devtools, all in one click.
The DevReports chrome extension acts like a dashcam for your browser. Instantly share your steps, screenshots, network requests, and console logs to recreate an issue.
Hey Product Hunt! Animesh here 👋
Writing bug reports sucks. Everyone knows it, and we felt it while building PlayerZero.
How did you get there?
What are the steps to reproduce?
Can you open the network tab?
So we decided to build a chrome extension that would cache the last few minutes of activity. Then, if you ever ran into a bug we could automatically upload that context, create a URL, and Slack that to our team. Bam.
Today, we’re opening up our internal tool to the world. And we’re doing it for free.
Give it a try today, it has everything you need to debug, all in one package:
✅Device metadata
✅Steps to Reproduce
✅DOM Snapshots / Screenshots
✅Network Logs
✅Console Logs
✅Session / Local Storage
Install the chrome extension for your team today and decrease the time you spend reporting bugs to a single click.
@joshua_molinare thanks! We tried to mirror the regular Chrome DevTools as much as we could to create a familiar and comfortable experience. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Were you able to explore some of the features like screenshot annotating or local storage / session storage capturing? It takes the experience to a whole other level
This is the most helpful feature for any developer and QA. Internally we used this feature and it helps a lot. It has good set of things like steps with screenshots, Console log, Network history and Local/Session Storage. which are useful while debugging a bug.
Personally i like this feature and using it from beta version itself, and it helps plus saves a lot of time in debugging/reproducing a bug. I would recommend this to all.
Great stuff! We already do screen recording to report bugs (I guess as everyone else does...), but there still is so much context missing that you need to add lengthy (and chaotic) messages to engineering. Improving this would help a lot....
@ivo_scherkamp yes!! You're 100% right. We have a screen recording feature built in as well if you'd like to attach a video to a report after you're uploaded a DevReport.
We've noticed that most of the time the automatically captured information is more than enough to communicate what happened since each report has the screenshots and events leading up to the issue.
Were you able to set up the chrome extension easily? It should only take a minute to set up, and I'd love your feedback to hear how this changes your issue communication workflow.
@ivo_scherkamp This is spot-on! Automatically captured context is such a game changer for bug reporting, I can't wait to hear about how your team likes it!
@paolo_degiglio Thank you for your positive feedback! We're thrilled to hear that you think our product is a must-have for developers and can't wait for you to try it out. Let us know if you have any questions or feedback. Having DevReports at our disposal has definitely made our lives a lot easier
@akoratana@daniel_kovari Thanks so much Daniel! Idk about you, but I've always hated filling out bug reports, so our chrome extension has been a huge game changer for me
@ron_fybish1 thanks!!!!!
How did you like your first DevReport?! Would love to hear any feedback you have for us to make DevReports better for you and your team
