PopTask v2.0 - 3 seconds from thought to task. No clicks, no app switching

byβ€’
Imagine a thought hits you mid-work. You press one shortcut, type "mtng wth boss in 2hr" or just say it out loud. Three seconds later you're back to what you were doing. The task is scheduled. The reminder is set. And you never switched apps. No forms. No dropdowns. No date pickers. Just your words, typed or spoken. Syncs Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, and Reminders. No cloud. No account. No tracking. The last to-do app you'll ever download.

hey folks πŸ‘‹πŸ½ haider again, solo maker on PopTask i launched PopTask on 31st march, four things came up over and over in the comments, so v2.0 is basically "i listened" here what am excited to launch in v2.0 1. real 2-way calendar sync: google calendar, apple calendar, and reminders all sync both ways. edit in PopTask, updates on your phone .. outlook is next 2. voice input: hold the mic, dictate. "gym tue thu 7:30 n sat mrng" parses as well spoken as typed. on-device, nothing leaves your mac 3. global keyboard shortcut βŒƒβŒ₯P opens PopTask from any app, the whole point was to never break flow and the best part, you can customise hotkey 4. follow-up suggestions: finish a task, PopTask quietly suggests the natural next one .. turns a list that ends into a day that keeps moving under the hood: new 4-stage on-device pipeline, 86.3% accuracy in under 500ms, 92% offline, 9 languages and yeah .. it's free up to 4 active tasks forever, past that $1.99/month or $14.99 lifetime for the first 100 Pops .. less than a coffee for something that lives on your menu bar every day BIG updates are on the way and i'm going full-time on this, your support is what makes that possible am excited to read every comment down here πŸ™ŒπŸ½

@lilhadiΒ Nice bro. Congratulations. Which model do you use??

Haider

thanks @k_hasiniΒ πŸ™ŒπŸ½

on-device apple foundation models on macOS 26+, falls back to cloud ai for older macs and edge cases the on-device pipeline can't confidently handle

what made you draw the line at "4 active tasks forever" for free vs going with a usage cap or time-limited trial. most solo makers i know agonize over that number and it's the one decision that quietly sets the tone for the whole business

Haider

heyy @liviu_chita, wrestled with this for a while

usage cap over trial because time-to-aha is 20 seconds on my app .. one messy task input and you get it .. and i believe trials punish slow adopters

4 because anything less felt hostile, anything more stopped funneling. and yeah "4 forever" sets the tone i want .. fair, not predatory

Liviu Chita

@lilhadiΒ makes sense. "trials punish slow adopters" is a good way to put it - people who'd benefit most are often the ones who need the longest ramp. and yeah "fair, not predatory" is the part most freemium models miss. hope the launch is going well!

Haider

appreciate that @liviu_chitaΒ yeah exactly, the people who need it most are usually the ones exploring slowly, didn't want to rush anyone into a paywall .. launch is going great πŸ™ŒπŸ½ thanks for the kind words!

Hello I liked this at first sight. I couldn't find a Windows option on the site. Is it Mac only for now? Also, when I click "Try for free" it takes me to a page that says "something's a little off." Might want to check those before more launch traffic hits?

Haider

heyy @naveengeorge, thanks for flagging both, appreciate that

and yeaa mac only for now, built deep on native apple stuff so windows would be a full rewrite .. on the list but no timeline yet

and the broken "try for free" link .. on it, fixing now. appreciate the heads up before more traffic hits

@lilhadiΒ Best of luck for launch!

Doesn't work. Downloaded, installed. Click on open, nothing.

Haider

heyy @sam_chong2, sorry about that, PopTask lives in your menu bar (top right of your screen), not in the dock .. look for the little icon up there (maybe your menu bar is bit cluttered)

if it's still not showing up, mind dropping me a line at haider@poptask.bar with your macOS version? i'll sort it right away
