How to write a Product Hunt comment during the launch day?
First things first:
Don't write the comment during the launch day, but before (prepare everything in advance) 😀
Jokes aside.
⚠️ Anytime I see the launch without the first comment, it feels a little bit sloppy, and the product is not that trustworthy for me (this is just my perception).
Why is the first comment important?
It helps me to become more familiar with the product.
May contain information that does not fit in the PH launch layout.
What should the first PH launch comment be/what should it contain?
✅ A properly filled out profile of the commenter (more trust)
✅ The reason why the idea came about.
✅ An outline of the problem.
✅ What the tool can do / Benefits
✅ Or some kind of promotion
✅ A conclusion (it could be thanking someone, tagging them)
→ Try to break it down (for example, use bullet points for greater clarity)
→ Try to keep it short (people may not read a comment that is too long)
→ Make sure you follow the PH Guidelines and rules
Do you have any tips of your own, or did I miss something?
Write them in the comments.

This information is super valuable! I'd also encourage solo makers to talk about their experience while building the product or tell a super short story that inspired them to create it. It's often the stories that give that human touch and trust to viewers (and potential clients).

@manuelzarroca Hopefully, you will apply these steps in your next launch :)
Brand Stori
Thanks for sharing this, @busmark_w_nika Nika - spot on!
I recently launched a product on PH and couldn’t agree more about the power of that first comment. A few quick additions from my side:
✅ Show some personality - even a simple “we’re thrilled to be here” helps humanize the team.
✅ Clarify use case with an example - especially helpful for niche or B2B tools.
✅ Include 1 visual or GIF if PH allows - motion grabs attention fast.
✅ Link to helpful docs, roadmap, or community (only if relevant - don’t overlink).
I’ve seen launches win or lose momentum based on how much effort went into the comment strategy.
Curious to hear what others have tested!
And if you’re launching soon, I'd be happy to swap feedback or upvotes. 🙌

@emin_aliyev How does this work, and what is it?
Easymove
@busmark_w_nika it is a AI visual customer advisor for fashion clothing brands that acts like in retail sales consultant
minimalist phone: creating folders
@emin_aliyev So basically it advises in creating a good outfit and where to buy it?
Easymove
@busmark_w_nika brands install it on their website, and this acts like in retails store sales consultant, helps to answer too all questions related to product, sizing, material, return, refund. Helps stores to optimize store front, catalog/inventory management. Also help to create good outfit, reference clothing that will fit you the best based on your height and weight .
This is an incredibly helpful and timely post, thank you for sharing such valuable insights, especially on the importance of the first comment!
I'm actually preparing for my Product Hunt launch with FaceArena (my online party game where facial expressions are the controller), and I've tried my best to apply all your excellent advice in drafting my first comment.
I'd be really grateful if any experienced makers or hunters in this thread would be open to taking a quick look if I share my draft comment here, and perhaps offer any thoughts? Your collective perspective would be highly appreciated!
first comment:
Hello Product Hunt 👋
I'm Miras, the solo founder behind FaceArena, and I'm thrilled to launch it on Product Hunt today! As a 16-year-old high school student, this project was a challenging task during my time at the nFactorial Incubator 2025, and I built it in just one month.
The Problem:
Online party games often fall short when it comes to genuine, spontaneous interaction. They feel static, lacking the human element that makes real-life fun so memorable:
❌ Limited Interaction: Just clicking buttons or typing.
❌ Lack of Spontaneity: Predictable mechanics, no real-time human reactions.
❌ Missing Connection: Hard to truly engage with friends beyond simple scores.
Meet FaceArena: Your Face is the Ultimate Controller!
FaceArena is a real-time multiplayer party game designed to bring back that unfiltered joy and connection.
Emotion-Driven Gameplay: Your facial expressions and emotions become the game's input! Using webcam-powered emotion detection (via a specific JavaScript model), your smiles, laughs, or poker face directly influence the game.
Hilarious Challenges: Experience modes like the "Don't Laugh Challenge," where the game literally knows if you crack a smile as memes pop up.
Unfiltered Fun: The magic lies in watching your friends' desperate attempts to hold a straight face—their reactions are often funnier than the content itself!
Privacy-First Design: This was paramount. All emotion detection runs locally in your browser, and no facial data is ever stored or sent anywhere. Your fun is private and secure.
Early Results & Benefits:
Since going live, FaceArena has already welcomed 160 users in just 7 days! This early engagement validates that FaceArena brings:
☑️ Genuine Laughter: Directly from authentic human reactions.
☑️ Spontaneous Fun: Every session is unique and unpredictable.
☑️ Deeper Connection: A fresh, dynamic way to interact with friends online.
Join the Fun & Share Your Thoughts!
I've poured my heart into FaceArena, and I'm incredibly excited for you to experience this new way to play. Your support means the world to me.
👉 Jump in and play FaceArena now: https://facearena.games
Please try it out, and let me know what you think in the comments! What's the funniest moment you had playing, or what other emotion-driven games would you love to see?
Let's play FaceArena together!

@miras808 Hey Miras, thank you for your contribution.
I would advise using space enter to make a space between paragraphs and use formatting (bold font) to highlight some parts :)
@busmark_w_nika Thanks a lot! I will take it into account
Atlas

Big thx, Nika
really helpful! I’m running product operations for a new product, and after reading this, I realized I should refine the overall storyline.
