Rambox - Ready-to-use workspaces as you switch tasks and contexts
by•
A major Rambox redesign focused on making everyday work simpler, faster and easier to navigate. The new interface reduces friction and the number of clicks needed to move between apps, workspaces, tasks and contexts, while a redesigned onboarding experience makes Rambox easier to set up and understand. This release also adds faster access to what you need, improved tabs and context persistence, Unified Search, Quick View, Command Center and new focus tools.

Hey Product Hunters!
Ramiro here, CEO of Rambox! I'm really happy and proud to share the improvements we've made to Rambox, along with some new features.
First, as for the desktop app, we've completely redesigned its look and added new features like the Command Center, Unified Search, Internal Tabs for apps, a new Concentration Panel, and much more.
Personally, I really like Unified Search. I think it's a great addition to Rambox for all users, and we're for sure planning to spend more time improving it and adding more integrations, such as Google Workspace.
Getting started is easier than ever, too: we've built a brand-new onboarding that's much more intuitive and lets you set up your workspace in no time.
We've updated our website too, with a more modern design and clearer explanations of Rambox's new features.
We've also introduced a new authentication process through the web browser, as well as a web console where users and teams can manage their accounts and billing.
There's a lot to explore in this new version, and we're thrilled to finally share it with you all! 😊
Give Rambox a try and let us know what you think!
We'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions. 🚀
Helloo,
what’s the difference between Rambox and OnePanel?
They seem pretty the same, what would you consider your strength points?
Thank you!
@ahmed_yacoub Hey, great to see a fellow maker here, and congrats on OnePanel! 🙌 There’s room for more than one of us.
For us, the big ones are Unified Search across Slack, Gmail, Notion, Jira and more from one bar, an AI side panel that works with the Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot or Gemini account you already have, Chrome extensions, 700+ apps, and Windows, Mac and Linux.
We’ve also been at this for years, and a lot of what Rambox is today came straight from our community, which is probably what we’re proudest of. Best of luck with your journey! 🚀
Using the platform for a while, but the latest update(s) seems to be released too early or not checked enough.
Some of the extensions don't work (examples: 1Password, uBlock) both Windows and Linux.
And to add to that, support doesn't answer messages.
Was a good app, not so much anymore.
@joe_shachaf You’re right, and I’m sorry. This launch shipped with more rough edges than it should have, and extensions are one of them. 1Password and uBlock are exactly the kind we’re working on right now; improving extension support is one of our main focuses for the coming weeks. And not getting an answer from support is just not okay, that’s on us.
Could you send me your email, or reply here with the one you used to contact us? I’ll personally make sure someone gets back to you and that your extensions issue is tracked. I’d really like the chance to win you back 🙏
@saenzramiro Hi Ramiro, what sort of Cloud Run resources are you using for the workers? services, worker pools, etc?
also for the AI agents, do customers bring their own API keys for the various models?
Congrats on today's launch!
@sara_ford_goog Thank you! 🙌 All Cloud Run services, no worker pools yet. The API is public and the three workers are private services on HTTP/2, so the same port takes gRPC calls from the API and Pub/Sub push messages. The one that runs our scheduled jobs is pinned to a single instance with always-on CPU so the crons never skip a beat, and schema migrations run as Cloud Run Jobs on deploy. Worker pools look like a great fit for that one, honestly, so they’re on our radar.
On AI: no API keys at all! Rambox has no AI of its own. The assistant opens Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot or Gemini signed in with your account, just like any other app, so you use the plan you already have. And with Remote Control (MCP) you bring your own client.
I've been using Rambox every day for years, and it's great to see how much the app continues to evolve! 🚀 I absolutely love the new features, especially Unified Search, which is a fantastic addition to an already great product. The redesign looks great, too!
It's awesome to see the team continuing to innovate and improve the user experience. Wishing Ramiro and the entire Rambox team all the best for the future. Keep up the amazing work! ❤️
@fernando_vulich Wow, this made my day, thank you! ❤️ Years of daily use means the world to us, people like you are the reason we keep pushing. So happy you’re enjoying Unified Search!
Thanks for sticking with us all this time 🙌
Hi, for those of us that like classic or horizontal layouts, will that remain as an option? It's literally a major part of my workflow.Vertical doesn't mentally work for me
@darren_ryall Totally hear you, and good news: horizontal is still there! 🙌 Go to Settings, find "Apps position" and pick Top (or Bottom if that’s your thing). Your apps go back to a horizontal bar.
Give it a try and let me know if it feels like home. If anything’s missing compared to the classic layout, tell me what and I’ll take a look!
How can I remove that header—the one with the search bar and everything else? It feels like it’s taking up space that should be used for what actually matters: the app I’m currently using. One of the things I loved about it was that it functioned like a browser, but with a clean interface; now, this bar just clutters my workspace. How do I get rid of it? Thanks!
@yasnel_saborit Totally get it, and that clean, browser-like feel is something we care about too. Honest answer: it can’t be hidden right now, because it’s also the window’s title bar (dragging, window buttons, back/forward). What you can do today is set Density to Compact in Settings, which makes it noticeably slimmer. And if you don’t use the AI assistant, turning it off removes its button too.
Downloaded this after a google search on how to speed up my very slow old macbook air about a year ago. Wow what a difference it makes! Even though I've updated my computer now, very grateful to have this central messaging hub for my apps. I used to use Franz but find this uses much less memory.
@gillianim This is such a great story, thank you for sharing! 🙌 Love that Rambox helped that old MacBook Air hang in there a bit longer, and even more that you stuck with us after upgrading.
If you want to squeeze out even more on the new machine, try setting your less-used apps to hibernate after a few minutes. They wake up as soon as you click them. Enjoy v3! 🚀
Separate sessions per client is a really practical idea! When someone switches into one client's workspace, does Unified Search look only inside that workspace's apps, or across every workspace at once? I'm curious which way you decided to go and why.
@neerajnathany Great question! Right now it searches across every workspace at once. The idea is that search is for when you don’t remember where something lives: "was that in the client’s Slack or my own Gmail?" Limiting it to the current workspace would hide exactly the result you’re looking for.
That said, scoping it to the workspace you’re in is a really interesting option, especially with several clients. You’re actually the second person today to bring it up, so it’s going on the list 🙌
@saenzramiro That makes a lot of sense, Ramiro! Search is exactly the moment when you don't remember which app something lives in, so searching every workspace at once is the right default. A filter to narrow the results to the current workspace after searching would cover the client case nicely. Glad it's going on the list 🙌
