I built a browser-based alternative to Focusee and Screen Studio— looking for feedback from creators

by

Hi everyone,

I’ve been making coding tutorials and demo videos, and most tools I tried (like Focusee) were great but a bit expensive for what I needed.

So I started building a small browser-based editor called RookieClip.

The idea is to make editing simple screen recordings easier — especially for dev tutorials and product demos.

Right now it supports:
• timeline-based editing
• zoom effects for screen recordings
• text effects and transitions
• 1080p exports

It’s still early and I’m trying to figure out what creators actually want from tools like this.

If you make tutorials, demos, or educational videos, I’d really appreciate your feedback:

  • what features are most important in your workflow?

  • what slows down your editing process the most?

Here’s the project if you want to check it out here.

Any feedback or suggestions would be super helpful.
