I built a free booking plugin because I didn't want my clients to need a Calendly account
Hey all. A request I kept running into for small WordPress sites: "can people book a call with me on my site?" The usual answers are either a SaaS embed (monthly fee, another login, client data on someone else's server) or a big booking plugin built for salons with 40 staff members. Most of my clients are one person with a calendar.
So I built Bookira. It just went live on wordpress.org. What it does:
- A three-step booking page: pick a meeting type, pick a time, enter name + email
- Only shows slots that are actually free based on your weekly hours
- Confirmation emails with a .ics invite, plus reminders before the meeting
- A dashboard calendar (month/week) where you confirm, cancel or reschedule
- It uses your theme's fonts, and you pick two colours
What it doesn't do (yet): payments, Google Calendar sync, multiple staff. I'd rather be honest about that than have someone install it and be disappointed.
I'd genuinely appreciate feedback, especially if something breaks with your theme. I tested it on Astra, Hello Elementor and Twenty Twenty-Two, but there are a lot of themes out there.
