I learned Xcode to build a sleep tracker with AI psychological coaches.

by

I want to share a project I’ve been pouring my heart into for the past few months: Circa Accord.

The Backstory

Living in a hyper-fast-paced urban environment, my daily routine was completely broken. I was constantly trapped in "revenge bedtime procrastination." I tried almost every sleep and habit tracker on the App Store, but I kept running into the same issue: raw data wasn't enough to change my behavior. Seeing a beautiful chart showing I only slept 4 hours didn't stop me from doom-scrolling the next night at 2 AM. I realized I needed psychological leverage, not just analytics.

So, I spent my evenings teaching myself iOS development to build the exact tool I needed.

What is Circa Accord?

It’s a circadian protocol app that bridges the gap between cold neuroscience and human behavior. Instead of just logging data, it actively helps you build discipline through accountability.

Here is what makes it unique:

• 🧠 Dynamic AI Coaches: Instead of standard, easily ignorable push notifications, you choose how you are held accountable. You can pick 'Steven' for raw, unfiltered neuro-facts about your sleep debt, 'Don' for strict, drill-sergeant-style accountability, or 'Linda' when you need empathy and breathing exercises.

• ☀️ Circadian Alignment: The core tracking is designed to help you naturally restore your biological rhythm, optimizing your focus during the day and winding down properly at night.

• 🏛️ Philosophical Mornings: I integrated Stoic philosophy and historical wisdom into the morning routines. It’s designed to anchor your day with intention before the chaos starts.

• 🌑 Sensory UI: A true-black Dark Mode to actively protect your melatonin levels at night, paired with premium haptic feedback.

The Journey

Building this as a solo indie dev from scratch was grueling. Wrestling with Xcode, Swift, and UI design late at night pushed me to my limits. But getting that "Ready for Sale" email from Apple made it all worth it.

If you struggle with sleep discipline, or if you just want to check out what a self-taught solo dev put together, I’d genuinely love for you to try it.
