Solo dev here: Cupmark helps you brew better coffee by tracking what changed in the cup

by•

Hi everyone,

I’m Anas. I work in IT Aviation filed and build apps on the side. For the past several months I’ve been building Cupmark, an Android app for people who want to make better coffee at home.

I started it because of a problem I kept having. I’d brew a cup, taste it, and think “this is a bit sour” or “this is too bitter.” Then I had no clear idea what to change. Most apps give you a recipe and leave it there.

Here is what Cupmark does:

  • Guided brewing. Pick a method (V60, Chemex, AeroPress, French press, moka pot, espresso, or cold brew), follow a recipe, and brew with step-by-step timing.

  • One suggested change. After you taste the cup and write your notes, the app suggests one change for next time, like a finer grind or a different pour. You can compare brews side by side to see if the change helped.

  • Learning. There are short lessons, daily practice, quizzes, and taste training so you understand why a change works.

  • AI coach. You can ask questions about brewing, roasting, or tasting. Answers use your recent cups when that history is available.

  • Community. You can share recipes, try other people’s brews, and join weekly challenges.

It works in English, Arabic, and French. New accounts get a 7-day trial of Pro.

The app is finished and tested, but I haven’t released it on Google Play yet. I’d like to launch when there are people ready to use it from day one. If you want a message when it’s live, leave your email here:

  1. What is the hardest part of brewing coffee at home for you?

  2. After you taste a cup, what would you want the app to check first: grind size, ratio, water temperature, or pouring?

I’ll answer every comment.

Anas
