Hi Product Hunt! I'm Marvin, the creator of StereoLift Live.

Today I'm introducing StereoLift Live: a Windows/Linux desktop application and native Meta Quest viewer that turn your PC screen into stereoscopic 3D as content plays. Your own NVIDIA GPU handles the conversion, and the resulting 3D video is streamed directly to your headset over your local network.

What makes StereoLift Live special?

- Full-resolution 3D, streamed directly to Quest. Many live 2D-to-3D workflows rely on Half-SBS, squeezing both eye views into a standard-width frame before streaming them through applications such as Virtual Desktop. For Full HD content, that leaves just 960 × 1080 pixels per eye. StereoLift Live instead streams Full-SBS at 1920 × 1080 per eye, preserving the full horizontal resolution. No Half-SBS compromise and no additional desktop streaming or 3D playback software required.

- Full desktop control without controllers. Point, click, scroll, drag, and type using a virtual keyboard in responsive 2D desktop mode. Choose what you want to watch, then switch to 3D viewing. Quest controllers are supported too.

- A screen that adapts to you. Freely position the virtual screen around you, move it closer or farther away, and adjust its size and angle. Whether you're sitting, reclining, or lying down, you can place the screen wherever it's most comfortable, without switching between predefined viewing modes.

- Easy, interactive onboarding. An in-headset guide demonstrates the hand gestures and lets you practice them directly in VR.

- Built specifically for Quest. A lightweight native application, currently under 30 MB, with features such as Ambient Glow, which extends the screen's colors into the surrounding environment for a more immersive viewing experience.

- Local processing and encrypted streaming. The entire 3D conversion runs on your own NVIDIA PC. Your screen is streamed over your local network using encryption, without passing through our servers. Online services handle account access and licensing, while your screen content stays local and private.

How does this relate to StereoLift?

Some of you may remember StereoLift, the cloud-based video conversion service I introduced here about six months ago. After thousands of conversions, it continues to serve a different purpose: turning video files into downloadable stereoscopic 3D, with flexible quality and resolution options. It's particularly useful if you don't have a suitable NVIDIA GPU, want to keep videos for repeated viewing, or prefer high-quality offline conversions for playback on various 3D devices.

StereoLift Live is a separate product built around a different experience: converting and watching content directly from your PC in 3D, without having to prepare or store converted files. One provides cloud-based file conversion; the other brings live 3D viewing to your local desktop. Both have their own advantages.

Free early access is now available for Windows and Ubuntu 22.04/24.04. All current features are free, with no daily viewing limit. You'll need a compatible NVIDIA GPU and Meta Quest headset.

The 3D viewing mode currently runs around eight seconds behind the PC for properly supporting a high quality temporally consistent depth model and a smooth and stable stream. 3D is designed for watching and the separate 2D mode provides a responsive desktop interaction.

I'd love to hear what you watch first, how the hand controls feel, and whether this fits your Windows or Linux setup. I'm here to answer questions.
