What's the shadiest thing you've found hidden in a TOS?
Here's one that still blows my mind:
Back in 2012, Instagram updated its TOS that would:
🔸 Give them the right to sell your photos to advertisers
🔸 Allow businesses to use your images in ads without paying you
🔸 Changed from a "limited license" to a fully "sub-licensable" one (meaning they could license your content to anyone)
And this was buried in their fine print:
"A business or other entity may pay us to display your username, likeness, photos (along with any associated metadata), and/or actions you take, in connection with paid or sponsored content or promotions, without any compensation to you."
The backlash was instant and massive. #InstaGate trended, users threatened to delete accounts, and Instagram backtracked within days.
But this isn't the only one.
Which services do you think people trust blindly but probably shouldn't?
