Tillkit is now free to start: why we dropped $79 to $0

by•

Tillkit started as the store I built for my own shop, then became a template you host yourself. Until this week it was $79. Now the core store is free.

Why: I don't think the basics of selling online should sit behind a paywall. If you can run a $5-a-month server, you should be able to run a real store and own every line of it.

Tillkit Lite (free): storefront, cart and guest checkout, Stripe payments (cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay) and pay by invoice, sales tax at checkout, customer accounts, order emails, and an admin for products and orders. Two themes, eight color presets.

Tillkit Full ($11.99 once, was $79): adds inventory from supplier invoices with landed cost, reorder planning and purchase orders, profit and by-state sales tax reports, and five more themes.

New in 1.1: the admin tells you when a new version is out, and a weekly GitHub pull request brings each update into your own copy for you to review and merge. Stripe changes can't break a running store, and with Stripe Tax your rates stay current on their own.

The demo's admin is open, so click around:
